Hire

The EM Forster Theatre was built in 2000 and has its main space – a fully equipped, air conditioned, proscenium arch theatre – as well as a smaller studio theatre. We operate as a receiving house for professional touring productions as well as a theatre for hire by the local Tonbridge community. Read on for more details about each area of the theatre and what is available to you throughout your hire.

EM Forster Theatre

Our main space seats 382 people across the stalls and balcony on raked seating. We have three dressing rooms backstage as well and two front of house spaces that can be used for large dance shows.

EM Forster Studio

Our black box studio space can seat up to 80 people either theatre style or cabaret seating.

Library gardens

A beautiful outdoor amphitheatre space that can seat up to 150 people on tiered stone seating.
